Shire plc (LSE: SHP, NASDAQ: SHPGY), the global specialty biopharmaceutical company, today announced results of a European survey that found a child"s Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms at school were a key concern for parents, yet outside of school their child"s ADHD also had significant impact on parents" personal time.1 The survey also revealed key findings surrounding parents" role in assessment and treatment for their child.1 Additionally, the survey suggested that informational needs may not be met adequately for these children with ADHD and their families.1 Conducted in partnership with ADHD advocacy groups in four EU countries, the survey analysed parental impressions surrounding the impact of ADHD on their child, themselves and their family, as well as their child"s ADHD treatment plan.

Minister Brady Launches The "Directory Of Services For Older People In The Stoneybatter" Area, Ireland

Aine Brady, T.D., Minister for Older People, officially launched the "Directory of Services for Older People in the Stoneybatter Area". The Directory of Services is produced by the Stoneybatter Senior Citizens Outreach Project and Intel Digital Health. The Directory aims to create a user friendly guide, in respect of many aspects of older people"s daily lives including health services, entitlements, rights and supports that are available in the Dublin 7 area. As part of the 2006 Senior Citizens Outreach Project ten older people from the Stoneybatter area carried out research on the needs of older people in the area. One of the findings was an expressed wish for comprehensive directory of services for older people in the area. During this time a partnership developed between the Outreach Project and Intel Digital Health Group when a researcher from Intel spent several months mapping the social care services available in the area. The directory was designed in collaboration with users and service providers. Speaking at the launch Minister Brady said "The publication of this Directory is a very welcome initiative that should prove to be of very practical benefit to older people in the Stoneybatter area." The Minister added that as Minister, her duties involve overall responsibility for the Office for Older People. This relatively new Office reinforces clearly the commitment of the Government to enhancing many aspects of the lives of older people, particularly through promoting improved co-operation at all levels across both the statutory and voluntary sectors. One of the priorities of the Office is to develop a Strategy for Positive Ageing that will result in real improvements in the lives of older people and that she looks forward to involving all relevant stakeholders in achieving this objective.
